And here's the deets!

Tribalation presents Gypsy Fire in two workshops and an ALL-TRIBAL evening show!
Saturday, Sept 27th

Workshops 12pm-2pm and 3pm-5pm at the NEW Celebration Belly Dance and Yoga
studio, 1840 Willamette suite 200 (formerly "The Spirit Moves" studio).

Workshop #1 12-2pm:
"Seamless Slow: Smooth Transitions and Formation Changes"
The magic of ATS is improvisation. Creating a seamless performance that gives the impression of a choreographed piece is the result of clear, non-verbal communication among the dancers. In this workshop, we will help you learn some smooth transitions, cues and formation changes that can open the door to creative ATS, and ATS-inspired improv! We will cover cues and transitions, helping students link basic ATS moves, along with a selection of Gypsy Fire's ATS-inspired signature moves. After that, we'll start moving our formations, changing the lead. Here's where the magic happens!
Appropriate for beginners proficient in basic ATS moves: Taxeem, Ribcage rotation, Body wave, Hand floreo, and Arm undulations.
Each workshop is $25 before 9/20/08 or $30 at the door.

Workshop #2 3-5pm: "ATS: American Tribal Style: Art, Technique, Spirit…"
The letters ATS have come to mean American Tribal Style, but in examining the elements that come together in this form of dance, and
pinpointing the pieces that feel the most compelling, I've found that they can gain a new meaning: Art, Technique, Spirit.
In this workshop, we'll address the different ways that these elements come into play in our dance. We rely on our Technique to communicate non-verbally with our fellow dancers, in a Spirit of community, through this Art…How can we implement these 3 aspects of the dance to create a more powerful, connected performance? We will present some of our signature movements, inspired by the ATS
vocabulary, as well as standard ATS moves, focusing on the fast repertoire.
Class appropriate for advanced beginner/intermediate dancers, proficient in standard ATS movements: Shimmy, Egyptian and 1/2 turn,
Arabic, Choo Choo, Turkish shimmy, and Arabic Hip Twist.
Each workshop is $25 before 9/20/08 or $30 at the door.

Evening show: Tribal Belly Celebration! An all-tribal bellydance show
at Cozmic/The Strand, 199 W 8th, Eugene at 8:30pm.
Featuring Gyspy Fire, Tribalation! Sabine's sword dance, Samara of The Bijou Project, Luminessah, Asafa, and more!
$6 at the door.
